With the recent launch of the South Portland, Maine website, AppGeo is now hosting more than 40 GIS websites for its clients across New England. “Expanding the nation’s spatial data infrastructure at the local level is an important part of our business,” said Rich Grady, President of AppGeo.  “The initial public response to South Portland has been strong with the site consistently generating over 6,000 maps per month for the benefit of both citizens and City staff.”  more...

Hikers Benefit from New Online Trail Mapping System Developed by Applied Geographics

Mid-America Regional Council (MARC) web mapping application to help patient advocates and health clinic personnel within the bi-state Greater Kansas City region

Applied Geographics Inc. (AppGeo®) developed the application in collaboration with MARC’s GIS and Regional Health Care Initiative staff as well as community stakeholders. “This website is a result of the bi-state program known as the Regional Health Care Initiative that we launched in 2007 to improve access to health care for the underserved population in Greater Kansas City,” said Brian Parr, GIS Manager for MARC. “The site is the result of the work of several departments at MARC, including Public Affairs and Research Services, and the support of the region’s safety net clinics.”  more...
   

Applied Geographics Helping Minnesota to Plan Enterprise GIS for State Government

The project is titled “Geographic Information Systems Functional Transformation” and is part of a larger, State government-wide Drive to Excellence reform initiative started by Governor Pawlenty that seeks to make broad improvements to the way Minnesota State government operates and delivers services.  “Minnesota has a long and successful history with GIS technology, but as with many other states there is a need for the GIS program to adapt and evolve in light of new technology and new demands arising from increased geospatial awareness,” said Michael Terner, Executive Vice President of AppGeo and Principal in Charge of the project. “Minnesota has done its homework in getting to this juncture and with the designation as a Drive to Excellence initiative there is both increased urgency and visibility for this effort. We look forward to working with the State to ensure that this plan is well-designed and also implemented effectively.”     more...

   

Applied Geographics to assist the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) with Enterprise GIS Design and Planning
February 2008
AppGeo will evaluate SCAG’s current network, software, hardware, data, and applications, and will compare those findings with best practices at other Councils of Government (COGs) and Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPOs) around the nation. Final recommendations for enterprise GIS will focus on improving performance, security, accessibility, and the user friendliness of applications, as well as addressing the challenges of managing a large, dynamic database that covers a six county region.  “As the largest COG in the country, SCAG will benefit from a planning process designed to improve its GIS implementation,” said Rich Grady, President of AppGeo. “Our experience preparing strategies, setting development priorities, and integrating GIS with other business systems will help SCAG to build an efficient enterprise GIS framework.”    more...

   

Applied Geographics to Develop Health Net Mapping Application for the Mid-America Regional Council (MARC)
January 2008
The project will use the latest in Internet mapping technology to present health clinic locations and information (hours of operation, types of services offered) for the benefit of customers and social service agencies.  AppGeo will design and develop the application in collaboration with MARC’s GIS and Regional Health Care Initiative staff as well as community stakeholders, so that it is seamlessly integrated with an existing website, and will support MARC staff in launching and managing the site which will be based on ESRI’s™ ArcGIS Server product and the Google Maps API.     more...

   
Second Annual GPVSM  User Meeting Hosted by Applied Geographics - December 2007
AppGeo convened the meeting for GPV users to set direction for the GPV toolkit for the next version.  "We are proud of the progress the GPV has made over the past year as we've doubled the user base and released two new versions," said Michael Terner, Executive Vice President.  AppGeo's approach to GPV development allows for the active participation of the user community.  GPV is a database configurable technology for GIS Managers that facilitates the building and deploying of GIS Websites.
